I am pleased to report that we have had quite a good fund raising year. Yet again,
some events have been well attended but unfortunately, some not so well attended.
I would like to thank all the committee members for their hard work over the year
and also thank them for agreeing to stay on for another year.

I know that lots of our parents have other children in different organisations as well as the scouting movement but everything the committee organises is for the benefit of all the children and it would be nice to see a few more parents attending some of our events. A few parents came to the Barn Dance and thoroughly enjoyed themselves so come on mums, dads, nannies, grandad’s and friends - please help us!

Our fund raising events started off last June with the Carnival which is always a good day out.

This was followed by the first of our Jumble Sales. Once again, thank you to our faithful. The next event was the Christmas Bazaar which was held at the Roecroft Centre and was enjoyed by all who came. The prizes for the Grand Draw were very good thanks to the hard work of Jo Brember and Maureen Brooks who sent lots of ‘begging’ letters out to companies round and about.

We then had our quiz which was our first with adults only. We were very encouraged by the success of this. The Barn Dance was next which has now become a very popular and successful event. Again this was great fun and yes, we hope to have another one next year. A week after that we held our Spring Jumble Sale, lots of clothing, bric-a-brac etc. and once again, a good turn out by our faithful.

The final fundraiser of the year was a new event for us, a Fashion Show. This was successful although selling the tickets was quite hard going in the beginning and we owe a big thank you to one of our mum’s who sold quite a few tickets for us.

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone who has helped us in any way either before or on the day of any event and also anyone who came along to support us. Although we do not see as many of you as we would like at our events, we really do appreciate the support of those who do come along.

As we look forward to the new year, we are hopeful we will once again have another good year of fundraising.
