Each team is given a point to get to. Once they are there they answer a question for that location, give the answer over the radio, if it is correct they are given the next point to get to. First team back wins.

Each patrol is given the same equipment. Each patrol has to design and build a self-propelling device to carry an egg the furthest distance.

Incident Hike
Organised by the older Scouts. This will be a hike, so wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear.

Backwoods Cooking
Make sure that you are wearing scruffs. Bring along food to cook. Try to be more adventurous with the items you bring. We want to see less burgers and sausages.

16th March Red nose day. Games night.
Run at the Scout Hut from 7:00 to 9:30. £1 entrance fee. Night has Snooker, Table tennis, darts, hockey, computer network games, games consoles, table football and football.

Who wants to be a millionaire
Run in patrols. 1 Patrol is in the committee room answering the questions. The rest of the Scouts can watch the patrol on the big screen in the hall. We alternate the patrols and the patrol with the most money wins.

Skiing
Meet at the Scout Hut at 6:20pm. The Skiing is a 2 hour lesson on a slope to ourselves. The lesson runs from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Scouts will be taken back to their houses.

Radio Hike
The Radio Hike is where we have 4 teams, each team has a cb radio. The team makes their way to the first checkpoint, when they get their they have to answer a question on the area. Providing they answer the question correctly they will be given their next checkpoint over the radio. The team with the most points wins. Meet at the Scout Hut at 7:00pm and we will finish at 9:30pm.

14th October                 Stotfold Scout and Guide Sponsored Walk

                                                 A six mile hike round Stotfold organised by the Stotfold Guide association.

AU        15th October                 Bowling

Meet at Hollywood bowl, Stevenage at 7:00pm and will need to be collected at 9:00pm. The cost of this evening will just be your usual subs cost of £1.50 and the troop will subsidise the rest.

20th to 21st October       District Challenge and Pathfinder hikes

District hike with two age categories. Hikes are usually between 15 and 20 miles split over two days. Boys walk in teams, carry all their equipment and have to perform tasks at bases along the way.

There is no meeting due to a working weekend and week at the Scout Hut. If parents are free on this evening, there are lots of small jobs that need to be done on the scout hut.

Run at the Scout Hut from 7:00 to 9:30. £1 entrance fee. Night has Snooker, Table tennis, darts, hockey, computer network games, games consoles, table football and football. Open to anyone aged 9 to 14, so you can invite your friends.

18th November             District Scout Soap Box Derby

A District event that we are running at the Scout Hut, Stotfold. More details nearer the time. Information will soon be available online at www.stotfoldscouts.org.uk/scoutcar

District event where there are 2 age categories and we enter 2 teams of 2 in the event. The event is held at Helow, Boyd Field and usually just takes up the morning.

Based on the TV series. Run in patrols. 1 Patrol is in the committee room answering the questions. The rest of the Scouts can watch the patrol on the big screen in the hall. We alternate the patrols and the patrol with the most money wins.

Year 2002

                        4th to 6th January          Gilwell Winter Camp 2002

Winter Camp is a national camp held every year at Gillwell Park. The weekend has lots of activities on offer like shooting, climbing, karting, quad bikes, gladiator, darts, snooker, radios, archery, computers and much much more… Take a look at our website for information and photos of the past 2 years events.

We have now split the Scout Troop into 2 sections. Both Monday and Tuesday Sections will do the same activities unless otherwise stated.

U          4th & 5th February         Badge Work We will have 2 badge topics to choose from. You will work towards a badge over 2 weeks. We will have this evening and continue in 2 weeks time. 

            11th February               No Meeting Due to both sections Karting on Tuesday

AU        12th February                Karting at Super Karts, Letchworth Cost will be £7 per boy. You will each get 15mins in the kart, racing in teams of six. You will need to return slip with the £7 before you will be able to attend. Please wear activity uniform or uniform tops.

15th – 17th February        District Survival Camp A survival camp held at Boyd Field and run by the district. You get to build a shelter in the woods that you will live in for the weekend. You are taught lots of survival skills over the weekend.

Everyone is to attend this, No excuses. We will be meeting at the Scout Hut at 12:45 to catch the bus at 1:00pm and arriving back at around 4:00pm. We have hired a double Decker bus to take our group to the parade in Biggleswade.

Continuing the badges started 2 weeks ago.

25th April                      Patrol Leaders Meeting

This night will be used to pick the new APL’s and to be briefed on plans for up and coming activities. Scouts should put forward any suggestions they have to their PL to bring up at this meeting.

NU        29th & 30th April            Generation Game Night A night based on the BBC television programme.

U          6th & 7th May                 Quiz Night and discuss entry into Stotfold Carnival

Organised by Matt Ha and Tom B and Matt Hu.

10th – 12th May              Tuesday Night Troop Camp  Camp at Phasels Wood.

NU        13th May                       Activity World

This will cost £2.00 per Scout and needs to be paid by 30th April. We will meet at the Scout Hut at 7:30pm and boys will be dropped off at their houses around 10:15pm. Activity world is a large Ball Park and activity centre similar to Carters in Stevenage. We hire out the place for 1.5 hours just for our Scouts. We may also invite the older Cubs and the Explorers along. Take a look at our website for photos of previous visits.

19th May                       District Cyclo Cross Likely to be held at Boyd field.

U          20th & 21st May              New Award work, Plan backwoods cooking and organise our entry into the Stotfold Carnival.

You will have a presentation on the new Scout award scheme. Patrols will also be planning what they are each purchasing and cooking at next weeks Backwoods cooking.

U          22nd May                       Stotfold Scout Group Annual General Meeting (AGM)

This is a meeting that talks about the running of the Scout Group over the past year and what is planned for the future. We invite many guests along and is open to anyone. It would be nice to see some of the Scouts represented in uniform. 8:00pm to around 10:00pm.

NU        27th & 28th May             Backwoods cooking

Will be working in patrols. Each patrol will have planned what they are cooking they previous week. Each patrol will be given a budget and they will have to plan and purchase the food ready to cook on an open fire without any utensils. I will provide some tin foil (How would we survive without it!) as well as some stock items (Salt, oil, gravy etc….).

31st May – 4th June       Experience 2002

A large camp at Oaks wood campsite, Charnwood. Offering lots of activities over the jubilee weekend. Zip line, Mountain boarding, off site adventure activity, fencing, inflatable, climbing & abseiling, bouldering wall, adventure course, evening disco, archery.

8th – 9th June               

Monday Night Patrol Weekend 1 Stags & Buffalos

2 Patrols will be allocated this weekend to plan and organise an activity for their patrol. This could be an outing or a camp.

Come prepared to get wet. All Scouts need to come armed with a water pistol. Evening activities will include rafting, it’s a knockout and water fights. You will need a change of clothes with you or make your way home in wet clothes.

12th to 14th July District Group Camp
Held at Boyd Field. Lots of activities planned with lots of groups from the district. Camping as a group, with Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Beavers visiting on Saturday.

U 15th & 16th July Cricket & Rounders
An evening at the Scout Hut playing cricket, Rounders and some patrol challenges.

NU Tues 23rd July Sports Night (in aid of Sport Relief)
An evening of sports at Roecroft Lower School, 8:00pm to 9:30pm. 75p of your subs from this evening will go to Comic Relief’s ‘Sport Relief’ campaign. All Scouts completing the different sport events will receive a Sport Relief gold medal.

27th July to 3rd Aug Summer Camp, Cumbaree 2002

23rd to 25th August August Camp
A camp at Boyd Field Campsite. Hope to take part in many activities over the weekend. Cost is only £10 for a weekend away.

NU Tues 27th August Walk/Hike (From Weston)
Meet at Weston around the Post office/general store and pub at 6:30pm. You will be able to find the leaders by just driving through the centre of Weston. We will walk back to the Scout Hut ready to be collected at 9:30pm.

An evening of Creative activities to count towards your Creative Challenge badge. Duty Patrol = Badgers + Foxes

 

NU        14th & 15th October, Ready Steady Cook

Based on the popular TV show. Each patrol will be given some ingredients and the means to cook it. They will have to cook a 2 course meal for a guest to taste.

Duty Patrol = Stags + Cobras

 

19th & 20th October, District Pathfinder & Challenge Hikes

2 hikes for 2 different age groups. The Pathfinder hike is for 10 to 12 years of age and the Challenge hike is for 12 to 14 years of age.

 

22nd October, Music Activity day

A day of music activities at the Scout Hut. Scouts who play instruments, sing or would just like to take part are welcome. If you play an instrument then bring it along and we will attempt to form a band, record a demo disc and film a music video.

 

U          21st & 22nd October, Film Night

We will meet at the earlier time of 7:00pm and finish at 9:30pm. We will hire an LCD projector and a DVD to watch. Popcorn and drinks provided.

Duty Patrol = Panthers + Eagles

 

26th October, MADD, Make a Difference Day

A day of work in the woodland around the Scout Hut. Meet at the Scout Hut at 10:00am and will finish at 3:00pm. The work carried out will count towards your Group environment award as well as some aspects of your challenge badges. We will be clearing parts of the woodland and improving the path and bike track.

Everybody is to attend this event. You will need to meet at the Stotfold Cemetery at 2:30pm and will need to be collected from St Mary’s church at approximately 4:15pm. Full Uniform please.

An evening of activities on the Muga pitch.

15th November, Children in Need Games Night

An evening of activities at the Scout Hut in aid of Children in Need. Cost is a £1.50 entry fee and activities on offer will be Snooker, Table Tennis, 7 PC multiplayer network, Playstation on LCD projector, Table football, hockey, darts, tuck shop and more…

 

16th  November, District Swimming Gala

Not sure if this event is running, but more details nearer the time.

 

17th November, District Soap Box Derby

A series of timed races with both pedal and push karts at the Scout Hut. The event will start at 12:00 and finish at 4:00pm.

 

15th to 17th November, Scout Hut Activity Camp

As we have 3 big activities on this weekend we will have a camp at the Scout Hut. All of the games night equipment will be left out for our use over the weekend. We will also take part in the Swimming Gala if it is going ahead and the Soap Box Derby which is taking place at the Scout Hut on Sunday.

This year we will also have a fishing camp on the same weekend and we may be camping with a visiting Scout Troop. We will have the usual range of activities such as climbing, archery and shooting.

A District competition held at Boyd Field, Henlow. We will be doing rifle shooting the day before on the November camp to pick our entries into this competition.

A camp where you have to rough it out in the woods at Boyd field. Scouts will be given their rations for the weekend and will need to build a shelter out in the woods. Camp runs from 7:00pm on Friday to 11:00am on Sunday. Cost is set at £10.

15th March Comic Relief Jail Break
Scouts will be blindfolded and dropped of at an unknown location. Scouts will need to get as far away from that point in the allocated time. Scouts will also need to photograph themselves at required landmarks. E.g. telephone, post box, church etc… Scouts will be sponsored for completing the challenge, with money going towards Comic Relief ‘Red Nose Day’. A prise will be given to the team that got furthest away.

Saturday will consist of music activities in the morning and in the afternoon we will give the opportunity for Scouts to form bands and record and produce their own CD with music video.
On the Sunday 13th April we will have a Internet radio station running for a few hours in the afternoon where some Scouts will have the opportunity of being a DJ and hosting the radio. We will also be playing some of the songs recorded from the previous day. Cost for the weekend will be £5. (forms available on our website)

This will be a camp at Phasels wood campsite for just the Monday Troop. You will be camping in patrols in your own campsite areas, with all of your own camping equipment and tents. Over the weekend you will be marked on various activities and challenges and a prize will be awarded for the winning patrol. Activities include canoeing, climbing, potholing and more…

This event is open to all boys aged between 10 and 14. They don’t have to be Scouts, so you can invite your friends. 21st to 23rd November   Scout Hut Activity Camp

This camp takes place at the Stotfold HQ and encompasses all of the activities of the weekend (Games night and Soap box derby). We will have lots of activities available over the weekend and you will be sleeping in dome tents out the back.

This is a District event that we are running. It takes place at the Scout Hut from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. We will be racing our push karts in different types of races against other troops in our district. As well as the races we will also have all of the games night equipment out for people to use at the Scout Hut. All Scouts are encouraged to come and take part.

Inter@ctive 2002 was a great success and we are set to run the event again this year. This meeting is for 5 Scouts of the organising team, these will be chosen by the leaders. The meeting is at 7pm to 8:30pm at the Mossman Centre.

This is a District run event, held at Boyd Field Campsite, Henlow. Scouts will be able to build and camp out in shelters in the woods. Scouts will be given their rations for the weekend and will be taught many survival skills.

Scouts will be given materials and a radio controlled car to build their fighting machine from. Scouts will compete in the central arena to beat their opponent.

13th February Disco with the Guides
This will take place at the Mossman centre and will be a disco and karaoke, complete with food and drink. 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Non-Uniform.

Another chance to improve your acting skills with our drama night. We will hopefully have the chance to try some green screen techniques, where we can super impose a different background to your play. This evening will count as a Creative challenge activity.

This is a District event held at Boyd Field Campsite, Henlow. You will need to meet at 7:30pm at Boyd Field and the event should finish around 9:30pm. I would like all Scouts to wear full uniform to this event.

7:40pm to 9:30pm. We are hiring a set of padded sumo suits for a sumo tournament evening at the Scout Hut.

19th to 21st March Chief Scout Gold Award Weekend
A weekend in the Peak District, organised for the 12 Scouts due to gain their Chief Scout Gold Award. We have hired a camping barn in the White Peak and will be presenting the Chief Scout Gold Award on top of one of the peaks.

We would like to see at least 1 parent/guardian for each Scout at this evening. We will show photos and videos from events in the past year as well as explaining what is planned in the Scouts over the next year. A model race track will be set up in the Scout hut. Scouts will be given some credits that they can place bets with on the horses in the race.

1st & 2nd May Music Activity Weekend 2004
Live the life of a pop star! A great event where Scouts have the opportunity to record their own music single and music video. Scouts will also be able to produce their own radio show, which will be broadcasted on our internet radio station in the evening.
The cost of this event is only £5 which is brought on the day.


NU 3rd May Biking night (subs due)
An evening of biking around the Letchworth Greenway. Arrive at the Scout hut at 5:30pm and we should arrive back around 9pm. This bike ride is open to all the family and parents are welcome. As it may be dark when we arrive back, we are asking for all Scouts to have lights on their bikes. All Scouts are required to wear a helmet.

An event based at Boyd Field. Teams have to race a raft around a course on the canoeing lake. This is a competition against the other troops in the area. More details will be given once we have received them.

A water night at the Scout Hut. We will have a couple of raft races and water balloon fights. Come with a change of clothes and prepare to get wet. You might want to come armed with a water pistol.

The whole Stotfold Scout Group camp together at this event held at Boyd field Henlow. Lots of activities planned including: Archery, Slalom canoeing, Darts, Table Tennis, Lawn Darts, Camp basketball, Welly wanging, Slippery pole, Land Dragon boat racing, Golf, Bouncy Castle and more…

Cost will be approximately £20. £5 deposit required by 18th May.

Scouts will be dropped off on Saturday night at a specified location. Scouts will then walk through the night until the early hours of the morning to get to the finishing point. Scouts will then be able to get some kip and will return home on Sunday afternoon.

15th to 17th October                  Group Communications Weekend & PL’s Camp

This is a weekend where all of the group can take part in a host of communication themed activities at the Scout Hut. We have a amateur radio station, internet chat, internet voice chat, email, fax, text, phone, website and more. PL’s will camp over on this weekend and will assist in running all of the bases.

 

NU        18th October                District Hikes training evening (Just for those attending the District Hikes)

An evening to prepare those Scouts taking part in the District Scout Hikes.

 

23rd to 24th October                   District Scout Hikes

This is a district event where there are teams of 4 or 5 that have to complete a hike on the Saturday of around 10 miles, and a hike on the Sunday of around 5 miles. The teams are marked over the weekend on their teamwork, points on challenges as well as being marked on camping skills.

19th November              Children in Need Games Night

This event is open to all boys aged between 10 and 14. They don’t have to be Scouts, so you can invite your friends. We will have table tennis, table football, snooker, darts, computer networks, games consoles, bowling, football, hockey and a tuck shop. Entry is just £2.00 which goes towards Children in Need. 7pm till 9:30pm.

 

19th to 21st November    Scout Hut Activity Camp

This camp takes place at the Stotfold HQ and includes the Children in Need games night. We will have lots of activities available over the weekend and you will be sleeping in dome tents out the back.

 

 

NU        22nd & 23rd November    District Shooting Competition & Fire lighting (subs due)

This year the District Shooting Competition will be done at the individual troops. On both the Monday Troop and the Tuesday Troop, we will be entering the highest score from the evening on to the district score board.

Another competition between the bands and a good night of music and karaoke. This year the event may be a joint event with the Explorers. If you have a band that you would like to enter then speak to one of the leaders.

An evening of building a fighting machine from the materials provided, using a radio controlled car as its base. Teams then compete in a fight in the centre arena.

An evening of archery in the Scout Hut as well as hockey or football outside the hut.

NU 7th & 8th February Ready Steady Cook (subs due)
Each patrol is given their ingredients and they have to produce a 3 course meal. Cookers and equipment is provided as well as some stock items that they can pick from.

11th to 13th February District Survival Skills Badge Weekend (Survival Skills Badge)
This weekend will be based on the survival skills badge and will cost £15. Scouts will build their own shelters in the woods which will be their home for the weekend. You will also be taught lots of survival skills as well as cooking all your food on an open fire.

NU 15th February Bike to the Leisure Centre (subs due) (Goes towards Fitness Challenge Badge)
Meet at the Scout Hut at 3:00pm and bike to the Letchworth Leisure centre. We should arrive back at the Scout Hut around 6:00pm. Helmets will be needed.

19th February Stotfold Scout Supporters Jumble Sale

NU 21st February Activity World (£3.50)
This is a large kids complex with slides, ball parks and swings. Cost is £3.50.

25th to 27th February Film Camp (Photography Badge)
A camp organised by some of the older Scouts. The camp will offer the opportunity to gain the photographers badge and produce some short films.

A meeting for the organisers of Big Bother 2005.

- 3rd March Virtual Scout Troop Meeting
A meeting in the chat room of our website. 4 Scouts will be broadcasting a live radio with a live webcam. Scouts can take part at home and join in the competitions and chat in our chatroom. This is monitored by leaders and will take place from 8:15pm till 9:15pm.

U 7th & 8th March Hockey & Football (subs due)
An evening of tournaments. Hockey tournament in the Scout Hut and a football tournament in the car park.


- 10th March District quiz
A District event held at Boyd field. How good is your general knowledge? Could you make the team?

12th March Jail Break (Goes towards Fitness Challenge Badge)
Scouts are divided up into teams and are dropped off in an unknown location. Teams then have to make their way as far from that point in the 3 hours provided. Scouts also have to photograph themselves at particular landmarks along the way like a church, telephone box, footpath etc..

NU 14th & 15th March Backwoods Cooking (subs due)
Bring along some food to cook on an open fire. PL’s turn up at 7:00pm and all the rest of the Scouts can turn up at 8:00pm.

19th March Big Bother Training Day
A day to learn how to use all of the technology in the Big Bother house and to prepare video clips and music.

U 21st & 22nd March Creative Night (subs due) (Goes towards Creative Challenge Badge)
An evening of creative crafts at the Scout Hut. Fymo models, glass painting, candle making and painting.

6th to 9th April Big Bother
A large District event that will involve all of the Scouts. 8 contestants from Scout troops around the district will stay in the Big Bother house. They will be filmed over the event and webcams and audio will be available 24hours a day on our website. 2 Scouts will be evicted each day by the public vote via text message, online vote and fax. 8 of our Scouts will be running the event with other Scouts called upon to perform particular roles over the 3 days.

We would like all Scouts to attend this event. More details of times will be released nearer the date.

U 25th & 26th April Film Night (Both troops on both nights) (subs due)
Scouts can attend both nights for a different film shown each night at the Scout Hut. Pop corn and drinks provided with a film shown on the big screen.

 

U 3rd May Leaving do (subs due)
Come along and celebrate the Scouting experiences of 3 Scouts who will be leaving us. We will have a presentation as well as games.


NU 9th & 10th May Karting (subs due)
An evening of karting at the Scout hut using the karts that we built last year. We will be having races out the back of the Scout Hut or on the unused road opposite.

NU 14th & 15th May Music Activity Weekend 2005 (Only £3)
Live the life of a pop star. Get together in bands to record your own single and music video. Have a go at presenting your own radio show. Lots of ways to get involved over the weekend for anyone, however musically talented.
To take part, just bring along £3 on the weekend.

U 16th & 17th May Race Night (subs due)
An evening of betting and gambling. Not quite the traditional aims of Baden Powell, but it’s a bit of harmless fun.
The Scout hut will have a race track with 6 horses and Scouts are given tokens that they can bet on a horse. The Scout with the most tokens at the end is the winner. (No cash prizes )

NU 22nd May The Big Kickabout
A great event being held at Queens Park Rangers football ground. 15 Scouts will be attending.

NU 23rd & 24th May Short Film Nights (subs due)
In patrols you will be given a theme on which you have to produce your own short film. You will be issued with a digital camera and a computer to edit and compile your work on. Prizes will be given for the best short film. (You could bring along some costumes or props)

U 25th May AGM
Come along and see what our group gets up to over the year. Watch a presentation on the activities we have done and hear about our aims for the future. 8pm start till around 9ish.
 

May to July 2005 programme.

NU Tue 31st May Sumo Suits, 6:30pm till 9:30pm, Both Troops (subs due)
A night where we hire a few sets of sumo suits and have an evening of Sumo fights. The Scout Hut will be set up as a fighting ring and Scouts will take it in turns to compete.

U 6th & 7th June Badge Night (subs due)
A choice of 2 badges may be given. You will complete a series of tasks throughout the evening and you may need to complete other tasks outside of Scouts in order to gain your badge.

- 12th June District Raft Race
District event held at Boyd Field Campsite. Event starts at 11am and involves taking a raft through a course and completing some tasks along the way, like collecting objects

NU 13th & 14th June Skiing and Tobogganing (Price £12)
We have booked both evenings for a mixture of both Sking and Tobogganing. Places are limited to 15 Scouts per night. The evening will run from 7pm till 9pm at Bassingborne Barracks. Scouts will need to meet at the Scout Hut at 6:15pm to be taken to Bassingborne. Scouts will be dropped off home afterwards.

U 20th & 21st June Who Wants to be a Millionaire (subs due)
An evening based on the hit TV show. Patrols will compete to win the highest amount by answering the questions. Each patrol will be taken into another room and the rest of the Scouts will be able to see them on the big screen.

- 24th to 26th June June camp 2005
Unconfirmed, but we hope to hold a camp at Phasels Wood incorporating climbing, cresta run, canoeing, archery and pot holing.

NU 28th June Activity World (£3.50)
An evening at Hatfield Activity World kids ball park and play area. We have hired the building from 8:15pm till 9:45pm just for the Stotfold Scouts. Scouts will need to arrange their own lifts to the complex for an 8:10pm start and will need to be collected at 9:45pm.


- 1st to 3rd July Trek Cart 2005 – A la carte (Unconfirmed)
A team of strong Scouts will compete in the Scout event at Thruxton Race Curcuit. They will have to pull our very own Scout chariot around a course, racing against other Scout Troops. The weekend also contains a Gun carriage race, evening disco, films, team games and more..

U 4th July Summer Camp Meeting (Summer camp participants only) (Quasar payment due £8)
A meeting for both Scouts and Parents to discuss the plans for this years summer camp at Peak 2005.

NU Tue 12th July Quasar (£8)
2 games of Quasar at Bedford’s Quasar centre. You will need to meet at Bedford Quasar for 6:40pm and will need to be collected at 9:40pm. Scouts are welcome to bring along any snacks if they wish, squash will be provided. The cost of the event will be £5.

- 15th to 16th July Night Hike
An evening of hiking in the area, arriving at base early in the morning.
Exact details and locations will be given nearer the time.

NU 18th July Troop Forum Meeting
A meeting just for the older Scouts to arrange the next programme and activities.

NU 25th & 26th July Water Night (Rafting & Water Fight) (subs due)
Come along armed with a water pistol, a towel, a change of clothes and prepare to get wet.

September

U 5th & 6th Investitures and games
We welcome the new Scouts, invest the not so new Scouts, go through the new programme and finish off with a load of games. 8pm till 9:30pm

Sun 11th BBC Family Proms in the Park & London Eye
A chance to enjoy lots of different music performed by the BBC concert orchestra with McFly, Jamie Cullum and more. The event is presented by BBC Blue Peter’s Connie and Matt. We will also be going on the London Eye. The day costs £15 which includes the transport there and back. Should be a great day out in London. Tickets on first come first served basis.

U Tue 13th Quiz Night
An evening in the style of a pub quiz. Scouts get into teams at a table and compete to win the overall prize. Drinks and nibbles will be available. 8pm till 9:30pm

16th & 18th September Camp
 This will be limited to 12 Scouts and will include mountain boarding, archery, climbing, pioneering, the black hole and more.. It will be light weight camping and taking only what’s really necessary.

U 26th & 27th Drama/song night
An evening of drama and musicals. Scouts will be given various topics and instructions where they have to put together their own plays. 8pm till 9:30pm

October

NU 3rd & 4th Brainiac
An evening based on the Channel 4 programme. Scouts will be let loose with various pieces of equipment and chemicals in order to test some stupid theories. 8pm till 9:30pm

U Tue 11th Parents evening with Summer camp 2006 information
An evening for parents and Scouts to have a look at the photos of the last summer camp and details of next year’s event. We will also be giving out information on what activities we have planned in the next year.
8:00pm till 9:30pm.

15th & 16th Communications Weekend
Scouts will get a chance to attend this on Saturday between 4pm & 10pm to take part in lots of ways of communicating with Scouts all over the world. The PL’s and APL’s will be asked to help during the weekend with the Beavers and Cubs and in return they get a chance to camp over for the weekend.

U 17th & 18th Map Reading Skills
A chance to brush up on map reading ready for the District Scout Hikes. 8pm till 9:30pm

(This is not a confirmed date as I haven’t heard anything)

NU 24th & 25th Ready Steady Backwards Cooking 7pm till 9:30pm
Each patrol will be issued with an assortment of ingredients and will have to make a 3 course meal out of them. All food has to be cooked on an open fire that each patrol has built. 7pm till 9:30pm

NU 7th & 8th Rocknasium (£4.50)
An evening of climbing in the Kempston’s indoor climbing centre.


Sun 13th Remembrance Day Parade
We have 2 formal occasions in the year and this is one. We would like all Scouts to attend this march from the cemetery to the church. Meet at the Stotfold Cemetery at 2:15pm and you will need to be collected at around 4:30pm from St Mary’s Church.


U 14th & 15th Shooting Competition
The highest scores from the evening will go forward for the District Shooting Competition. 8pm till 9:30pm


Fri 18th Children in Need Games Night
Invite along your friends for a chance to take part in table tennis, snooker, computer network games, play station, bowling, hockey, football, tuck shop, table football and more..
The evening will start at 7:00pm and finish at 9:30pm. The night costs £2 which will go to BBC Children in Need.


18th to 20th Scout Hut Activity Camp
After the Children in Need games night we will have all of the equipment out for the weekend. Scouts will be able to stay at the Scout Hut and use the equipment all weekend as well as films, chip shop
challenge and more…


U 21st & 22nd Guest Speaker
During this evening we will have some speakers on a range of subjects. The evening will also count towards some of the challenge badges.

U 5th & 6th Film Night (Both nights open to all!) (Mon 8pm till 10pm, Tue 7:40pm till 9:40pm.)
Come along for a film. Popcorn and drinks will be provided. Scouts can attend both nights. Monday night runs from 8:00pm till 10:00pm and the Tuesday night runs from 7:40pm till 9:40pm.

NU Mon 12th Battle of the bands practice
Those Scouts who have put together bands can come along for a practice night. 8pm till 9:30pm.

NU Tue 13th Battle of the bands
An evening of musical fun. Watch the bands perform and join in with the karaoke. We will set up a stage at the end of the hall with lights and sound systems. The event may even be broadcast live on our website with sound and webcams. We will also be after a couple of Scouts to host the show. 8pm till 9:30pm.

NU Tue 20th Christmas Dinner
The Big Banquet. A chance for all of the Scouts to join together for an evening Christmas meal around a big table. Enjoy the food, drink and entertainment. 8pm till 9:30pm

6th to 8th Gilwell Winter Camp
This is an excellent camp at Gilwell Park. Join 1000 other Scouts for lots of activities and parties in the cold and mud of Gilwell in January.
