What a great day. We couldn't have asked for better weather. The traffic was fine on the way up this morning with no hold ups and got to the site at 11:30am. We have had a scorching day and have successfully put all of our tents up. The Scouts have already made friends with a bunch of guides on the site next door and have been chatting with them for the afternoon.
Our allocated site is very big and in an ideal position. We have to carry the washing up water a total of 3 metres (Not very interesting, but makes a big difference to us).
Our event/activity for today was the opening ceremony which was a uniform activity but we ended up with just uniform tops due to the heat.
The opening ceremony took place on the plateau with 5000 Scouts and Guides. The acts were some disco songs, dance acts and a performance from the band 911. All very good performances which wore the Scouts out. The ceremony ended at around 11pm but the only people left at
the event from Stotfold was Charles and Nick. The Scouts are still awake in their tents at 1am but I am sure that they will sleep well tomorrow.
