Everyone decided on a lay in this morning and decided that breakfast would be at the later time of 9am. This however did not go to plan as some of the Scouts woke at 7am and did not want to go back to sleep. This combined with the toilet cleaning lorry and a very loud leader ringing a bell 2 camps down, meant that we were all up around 7:30am.
We had the usual lack of information on what activities were going to be running. It was 'campers choice' in the morning, which meant that all the activities were running and Scouts could have a go on anything. Our Explorers took part in the semi finals of the hockey tournament but got beaten by the same team that beat them in the football.
The afternoon was really a chill out time as the activities were made open to leaders only, which I thought was silly as there was nothing on offer for the Scouts. Our Scouts amused themselves with the stocks and many water fights.
The evening consisted of the closing ceremony. This was to take place at the main stage and we got dressed up for it. We all got dressed up in our Sherwood 2003 t shirts and sprayed our hair gold. We also sprayed ourselves with glitter spray and wore glow sticks as necklaces and bracelets. The opening ceremony didn't start off that brilliant but after the boring
beginning it ended with a good disco. Many of the girls were in tears as it was their last night at camp and spent the evening going round hugging everyone they had met.
I got an award from the sub camp team for the leader most prepared for every
technical eventuality. It's an honour but I was unable to attend the award ceremony as I was busy at the site.
Our accident prone Scout (Michael) was taken down to the doctors as the other night he got bitten near the eye and it was particularly swollen this morning.
We were intending to take down the Scouts tents today but we did not have time. The Scouts are still sleeping out in the open tonight though.
Well this is the last report that I will send from the campsite. I will post a report for
Saturdays events in the evening from home. See you all tomorrow.
