Summer Camp 2008 - Kit List

Please make sure that everything is named. At the end of each camp I usually fill at least one plastic bag with items and clothes which nobody owns up to.

You need to arrive on Saturday at 8:00am with a day sack containing your lunch, drink and waterproof top.

The rest of your kit should be packed into a maximum of two bags, which need to be brought to the Scout Hut on Friday evening at 7:30pm for packing into the van. Everything must go into the two bags and nothing should be tied to the sides or placed in plastic bags please.

Please remember that we are climbing Pen-y-fan on Thursday and that Scouts will need to get waterproofs (top and bottoms), two jumpers/sweaters, water bottle, hat , gloves and sandwiches into their day sack.

Here is a guide to what should be taken

Uniform

Full uniform, except for black shoes (trainers are OK). A coat hanger and polythene cover is essential so that the uniform can be hung up when we get to camp.

Shirts & T-Shirts

A few with long sleeves for when the sun shines

Trousers & shorts

Underwear and socks

Trainers

Preferably two pairs as you will have to wear one pair for water activities.

Sweaters and/or sweatshirts

Camp Hat and sun high factor barrier cream

Essential to protect you from the sun.

Waterproofs

Properly waterproof, not just shower proof. Need over trousers as well as top.

Sleeping bag, camper mat, pillow?

Night clothes

Two towels

T-towel (drying up cloth) important

Swimming Gear

Washing kit

Including soap (yes!!) toothbrush, tooth paste and comb.

Torch & batteries

Large plastic sack

For dirty clothes

Notepad and pen

Walking or hiking boots

Make sure you have a good pair of socks to use with your boots

Pocket Money

It is not necessary for the Scouts to purchase anything while on camp, so pocket money is for “extras”. This is usually sweets and souvenirs. Maximum £30, but this is not the recommended figure.

Camera (optional)

Any personal medical supplies must be clearly marked with the Scout’s name and the dosage. These must be handed to the first-aider (Leader) in the Scout Hut before we leave.

No CD/cassette players or radios (there will be a radio on our camp site)

No need to bring cutlery, plates or cups as we have enough for everyone.
