The Scouts were woken in the morning at 7am and were told to tidy their tents ready for an inspection after breakfast. This caused many a complaint but led to the
towels, underpants, socks and swimming shorts being removed from outside the tents.
The Scouts are washing in the campsite each morning (or attempting to!) using bowls of warm water, so hopefully parents will
receive soap back with the wrapper off.
Today's activities consisted of non ticketed activities in the morning, followed by water activities in the afternoon. The non ticketed activities took place on the large field beside our campsite and consisted of things like a water slide, craft tent, human table football,
assault course, bungee run, sumo suits, kart building, obstacle course, fire safety demonstration, climbing, pioneering and more...
For the water activities we were given tickets for 5 different activities, canoeing, power boating, sailing/wind surfing, dinghy sailing and swimming at mersea Y.C. We were given a limited amount of each activity and these were
distributed randomly to the scouts.
I went sailing with Ben, Daniel co and bonno. All of the activities were good fun and an opportunity for Scouts to get a shower without having to
queue.
Tom D and Michael S volunteered to show some VIPs around the campsite. They were dressed up in uniform and escorted some adults around the site to show them where everything is. The VIPs were people organising the Eurojam 2005 big jamboree next year. The lads did very well and looked very impressive and even showed them around our site.
We started the evening activities off with a group attendance at the bin bag fashion parade. It was great to see all of the Scouts and explorers working on their costumes and they created some very amusing and creative costumes. Andrew B and Peter both entered the show as Prince Charles and
Camilla (Andrew being Camilla) and they got through to the semi finals.
The evening show at the cinema was the haunted mansion and the place was packed. Some of our Scouts were too late getting there and could not get in.
The Scouts all seem to be enjoying themselves and there is lots of activities for them to do. Lots of the Scouts have come back from the craft tent with lots of different things that they have made.
Some parents have asked where the photos are on the website. I am unable to put the photos on the website due to the limited technology I am using. The main jamboree website does have photos on it as well as a live webcam. The camp is also being covered by BBC Essex and you can read some of their reports at www.bbc.co.uk/essex.
Tomorrow we are doing 'It's a knockout' in the morning and we have ticketed activities in the afternoon. Activities include caving,
Karting, climbing, abseiling, shooting and more... I will try and get some reports off of the Scouts tomorrow to put on the website. |
