We allocated the weekend of 31st October to 2nd
November to the two troops to organise their own camp at Boyd Field
campsite in Henlow.
The camp was an opportunity for the boys to complete
their outdoor challenge and the leaders arranged a few activities
for the Scouts to do. The rest of the programme was done by the
Scouts themselves. They booked the site and booked the climbing,
archery and shooting.
We took food for the Friday night and the Saturday
breakfast. On the Saturday morning 4 of the Scouts took a trip into
sainsburys and both troops had a maximum of £50 to spend on food for
the rest of the weekend. One troop managed £44 and the others came
to £47.
One of the activities for the outdoor challenge was
to build a pioneering table with benches. All of the teams managed
to do the task, although some were quite large.
All the Scouts cooked on an open fire and trangias
over the weekend.
We finished up on the Sunday with a first aid
practical for the outdoor challenge.
