Well we did it!. We ran a successful Jail Break
and raised lots of money for Comic Relief.
All of the 27 Scouts met at the Scout Hut at
9:00am on Saturday 15th March 2003. We made our way to Grafham
water, where we sorted the scouts into teams and blindfolded them
and made our way to the the jail Break base which was located near
Melchbourne. At the base the teams set off in 2 minute intervals.
Each team amazingly went off in different
directions and made their way to the nearest towns or villages,
where they had to find and instance of a bridge, church, post box,
telephone box, minor road, foot path, bridleway and photograph
them selves at each place with the disposable camera.
All of the teams managed to radio back their
position every 30 mins, sometimes they were correct. Edward ran
the base station with the help of Clare and some times had to
verify that they had been given the right grid reference as it
placed them in the middle of a field or middle of a wood.
Each team had a allocated leader that kept a
distance behind the teams to make sure that they were ok. Each
leader had a radio so they could contact their group and the group
could contact the leader in case of trouble. Some of the
conversations were quite interesting like
Team
"Team Tiger to Leader Hotel, Do you know where we are?"
Leader
"No"
When the teams had completed the 3 hours they
stayed in their position while we came round and collected
everybody.

1st place went to the Eagles patrol and received a
gold trophy each. Everybody that took part received a Jail Break
certificate.
Well done to everybody that took part and thank you
to all of the parents that helped on the day. Let's hope we raised
loads of dosh for Comic Relief. We have a totaliser on the main
Jail Break page showing how much we have raised so far..
