General
-
There are no specific rules regarding the design of a soap box kart
except that it needs to be a push kart with no drive mechanisms. Don’t
forget that we will have some karts available, in all races not
everyone is racing at the same time.
-
Karts should
ideally have some form of braking system to assist in stopping the
kart at the bottom of the hill.
Helmets need to be worn at all times
-
Karts can have
a maximum of 2 pushers and 1 driver.
-
Teams can be
organised at the event and can comprise of members from different
troops.
Sprint
-
This will be a
simple race along the track between 2 karts. Races will be timed and
the fastest kart wins.
-
The sprint will
be for teams of 3 members.
Endurance
-
As it is an
endurance race where drivers and pushers can be changed throughout the
race at the end of each lap. Races will be endurance races of 5 mins.
The course will be a ring layout, up and down the course.
-
In the
endurance race you can have a team size of 3 upwards. Ideal as a Troop
race.
Relay
-
This will be a
race from the top of the course to the bottom and back. Teams will
need to carry a baton from one end to the other and will need to swap
team members at each end. The course will be in a ring layout
comprising of straights, chicanes and obstacles. If there is only 3 in
a team then the members will have to swap positions on the kart at
each end (e.g. driver swaps with pusher).
-
In the relay
you can have a team size of 3 upwards. Ideal as a Troop race.
If the demand is
high, there may be a leader’s race.
It should also be understood that the sole purpose of this event is to
have fun. Emphasis is placed on participation, not winning and is
designed to be a fun afternoon out.
