Fitness Challenge - 2008
fitnessFor our Fitness Challenge in 2008, the troop is going to train for two events. The first event is a 40km cycle ride at the end of June which in linked to the Cyclist activity badge and the second event is the climbing of Pen-y-fan on Summer camp. Either event will qualify the Scout for the Fitness Challenge providing they have taken part in the majority of the fitness training sessions.

We started the fitness training with a "bleep test". This was fun and should give us a base line to see if our futness has improved over the months of training. Even Nick stumbled his way through the test!! Have a look at the results.

Our second training session was after the mini-pioneering and involve warming up with some stretching exercises and then some circuits round the Scout Hut all lead by Mark and Darren.

The third session was a similar format to the first, but with the addition of skipping and those dreaded press ups!!

Our fourth training session follows Brad and Matts Patrol Challenge and included star jumps and "burps". What do you think of Nick's (he's the one in the black shirt) star jump!!

Our final training session before the cycle ride was held at Bedford Rowing Club. They allowed us to use their gym and rowing machines ... and then to have a go on the open water.
