The scouts met at Boyd Field for an evening of outdoor games.
Mark came up with a few that were new to the scouts. Firstly they were given a raw egg and bonus points were to be awarded if they managed to keep the egg in one piece at the end of the evening. They came up with various ways of protecting the eggs, such as wrapping in grass and stuffing down their trousers! needless to say only a few survived the evening.
The first game was running between, and then spinning around sticks. Most of the scouts ended up dizzy, causing them to run in a comedy manner, and do all they could not to fall over.
The second game involved balancing the same sticks on their heads. This proved particularly hazardous for the leaders as the sticks ended up being propelled in every direction. The third game gave the scouts an opportunity to improve their already perfect pioneering skills; they had to lash the sticks together to make a platform to carry a passenger (not a leader!) in a race. The race was hilarious, with various parts of their contraptions falling apart. They took turns to be passenger, and all teams completed the race. Anton then provided an impressive NERF throwing demonstration, where he showed the scouts how to achieve low-earth orbit with an outdoor toy!
They concluded the evening with a game of capture the flag, arranged by James. The evening ended with Tigers as the winners. The adults present were definitely the losers as the notorious Boyd Field mosquitoes were out in force with their taste for mature blood! |
