After a successful
visit to the filming of Robot Wars, We decided to run our own smaller
version of the event.
Each team was
supplied with their own radio controlled car on which they had to
build their robot on. Each of the teams then had a fight in the arena
where they were judged on Damage, aggression, style and control. A
copy of the rules can be found below.
This was a great
event and will certainly be run again.

Event Rules
Brief
You need to build a structure on top of the supplied radio control
unit. You will be supplied with many materials that you can use, but
make sure that you look at the aims of the competition below before
designing and building your robot.
You may be given some extra parts that you need to incorporate on to
your robot before the fight. This will be explained to you during your
construction time. (Balloons)
All teams will be given 2 minutes testing time, where they can test
the robot in the arena before the fights.
Specifications
Your robot must be able to be moved from one radio control unit to
another within 3 minutes.
The maximum width for robot is 40cm
The maximum length for robot is 40cm
The maximum height for robot is 30cm (Not including competition add
ons)
Aim
The aim is to gain as many points in a fight as you can.
Winners are determined as follows:
a) By rendering their opponent immobile within a 5 minute time limit.
Any robot that is unable to move for thirty continuous seconds shall
be considered "immobile".
b) If after 5 minutes of combat both robots are still mobile the
winner will be chosen by official Robot Wars judges based upon a
points system which will take into account four factors: damage,
aggression, control and style. Of these four factors damage and
aggression will be the primary criteria for determining the winner.
Points can also be gained each time the opponents are pushed into the
CPZs (Corner Patrol Zones), these are in each of the 4 corners of the
arena
The judges decision is final.
The judges mark on style, control, damage and aggression giving points
to each robot in a fight.
