On Friday 11th August a party of
16 Scouts, Venture Scouts and leaders from the 1st Stotfold Scout
Group made there way to Kandersteg in Switzerland for their summer camp.
Kandersteg is home to the international Scout Campsite where we shared
the site with over 900 Scouts from 17 different countries.
The Scouts took part in a week packed full
of activities, which included mountain biking, abseiling, climbing, hiking,
swimming, toboganning and boating.
The Scouts also managed to get up at 2:30am
to hike to the top of the nearest mountain to watch the sun rise over the Swiss
alps and then in the evening climb their way up to 2000 feet to spend the night
in a wooden mountain chalet ready for a climbing workshop the next morning.
Kandersteg, which is in the middle of the
Swiss Alps, is absolutely stunning and the weather was 30’+ all week with
some spectacular thunderstorms on a couple of nights.
After a long coach journey the Scouts
arrived back safely on the morning of Sunday 20th August.
All of the Scouts thoroughly enjoyed
themselves and have been sharing their experiences with the rest of the Scouts.
