On the Friday it was – as we were constantly reminded through out the week – Lizzy’s 17th Birthday, so we travelled to the seaside for a day at Hastings beach, with a small detour to Battle, the site of the battle of Hastings. Once ensconced on the beach, traditional “lets bury Laura” and other activities took place! It was a tremendously hot day and we were glad for the opportunity to have a swim and generally cool down.
