On Saturday 19th June 2004 60 Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts plus 11
adults boarded
two coaches at the Scout Headquarters bound for Gilwell Park in
Essex to take part in the Annual Beaver & Cub Fun Days. We arrived at
about 10.00am and a large mess tent was put up with the help of some
of the boys.
Everyone was given a wristband to put on and a
label with their name and a mobile no on in case they got lost
(Leaders included!). The groups then went off in different
directions to take part in all the activities that were on offer.
Boys took part in archery, aerial runway, waterslide, grass
sledging, bouncy castle, fairground rides, various inflatables,
craft activities and rope-making among many other things.
They watched a
jousting display and spent their money on souvenirs and ice-creams.
The activities closed from 12.30pm - 1.15pm and we all met back at
the tent to eat our packed lunches. A good time was had by all and
we arrived back at the Scout Hut at 6.15pm tired but happy!
All the boys received a cloth badge as a souvenir.

We got the older Cubs to give the leaders a hand in putting up the
mess tent.

All Cubs and Beavers are issued with name stickers and wrist bands.

The water was muddy and the queue was long, but nothing would stop
the Cubs from having a go at a bit of rafting.

Some of the Comanche Cubs make their way to the fair and water
slide.

Chris makes a horrible, hairy spider in the craft tent.

How many Cubs can you fit into a small helicopter ride. We managed 3
(Tom, James and Patrick).

The ariel runway was popular. This year there were five running.
This is James preparing to be launched.

"I've got stuck, can anyone give me a push?"

The Jousting displays were very popular and took place in the main
arena.

We were on the French side.

The Beavers have a go at archery.

The Levitating Chickasaw Beavers (or was it a trampoline?)

Anyone for tennis?

Have you seen these Cubs? If so, stay well away!

Luckily these were locked in the bouncy castle.

Getting ready for the simulator to start.
