This years Group Camp was help at Boyd Field in early June. After a lengthy heat wave, the forcast weather was not as promising and when lightening was seen about 9:00pm our hearts started to sink a little. However all the Explorers, Scouts and Cubs who turned up to camp were able to pitch rheir tents in sunshine.
After a very wet night, we woke to a chilly, fine morning and to the smell of Stephen Hepworth's, Head Chef at The Priory in Hitchin, wonderful breakfast.
The moring was to be spent improving traditional Scouting skills, so the young people had a chance to take part in fire lighting, axe work and pioneering.
Our Beavers arrived about 11:00am and stayed with us for the day.
After a lunch of sandwiches and fruit our afternoon session was full of activities.
Once again Steve can and cooked out evening meal ... and it all went with hardly any thrown away. A fantastic meal Steve for just over 100 people.
We finished a wonderful day with flag down and then a camp fire.
