Fusion, A new service designed to get
the information you need, when you want it and where you want
it.
Bringing together SMS text
messaging, email, wap and internet.
With 'Fusion',
you will be able to select from many different methods of
communications. You will be able to receive alerts and reminders on
scout events (e.g. programme change, time or location change,
letters and forms due back). These alerts can be sent straight to
your mobile phone, email or both.
Scouts and parents/guardians can also choose
to receive information alerts, with information on national events,
local offers, competitions, group events and more...

Parents/Guardians can sign up to
receive
SMS Text Message Alerts
Receive Text messages on your mobile phone reminding
you of programme events, letters/forms due back and any last minute
changes. You will also receive our monthly competition question by
text message, and you can enter via text message. Other competitions
and votes will be launched later.
Email Alerts
Giving you information on events as well as links to
related areas on the website. The email also contains all the
stories from the fusion website as well as details on activities
coming up. You are also sent a text message when you are
sent an important email.
Mobile Phone Services
For those of you with trendy new mobile phones,
Fusion has a WAP site where you can read the fusion stories while
you are on the move. This will be an experimental page of the
service.
Competitions and prize draws.
Scouts will be able to take part in some competitions
and our prize draw via their mobile phone.

Why offer
this service?
We hope that this service will help Scouts to keep
track of the huge amount of events and activities that we run.
Fusion also adds more services outside the normal Scout meetings. We
also hope that this service will help in the running of the Scouts,
as we have an efficient way of communicating information and last
minute changes to Scouts without delivering letters to all Scouts
houses. SMS text messages and emails can be sent to everyone within
a minute as apposed to spending 1 1/2 hours distributing letters.
How much
will 'Fusion' service cost?
This service will be free to all Ridgway Scout Troop
members and will be funded out of subscription charges.
How is it run?
We run this service via a PC connected to the
internet. We buy a bulk amount of text messages from a supplier on
the internet and have a program that integrates into our Scout
database. We can send a SMS text message and and email, to all
Scouts in one go, over the internet.
How can I unsubscribe from the service?

Are my details given out to any other
organisation?
No. Your details will be stored in our Scout database
and used for Scouting purposes within the 1st Stotfold Ridgway Scout
Troop only.
Will I automatically be subscribed to new
services?
No. You will be notified of the new service and will
be given details of how to add it to your subscription.
