This was a very special day. I set off from Stotfold with my Dad and two sisters (unfortunately Mum was a bit poorly and could not come). We took the train to King Cross and then the underground to Camden Town.
When we emerged it was raining and we got really soaked walking from the station to London Zoo where the presentation was to be held.
I reported in at the conference centre and was lined up for the 1:00pm presentation. This gave us about an hour to walk round the zoo. As it was raining we decided to go in the aquarium ... well we were dry even if the fish weren't!!
Seven of us arrived for the this session of the Queen Scout presentation. We sat in the front with all our visitors behind. The Chief Scout, Peter Duncan, then invited each of us to the front for an informal "chat". He asked us what we had done for our award and what our plans for the future were. Finally he presented the certificate.
This was a memorable event, quite different from what I expected. The Chief Scout gave me a few special minutes which were just for me.
After he had spoken to all seven of us, he then posed for many photographs taken by proud parents.
We then had an hour to spend in the zoo while another presentation was going on, before returning for a group photo.
The great thing about getting the Queen Scout Award is that you get it presented a number of times. It was initially presented by John Duley, Bedfordshire County Commissioner, at our Scout AGM and then by the Chief Scout himself in this ceremony and finally I get to go to Windsor in April for the St George's Day parade.
