The Comanches and Cherokee Cubs took part in the
District Sixers and Seconders camp at Boyd field campsite, on the
weekend of 9th to 11th May 2003.
This was a camp for the older boys in the packs,
and had a whole host of activities planned for them.
Friday night
All went well in the setting up of camp. All of the cubs arrived at
6:00pm and we unloaded all of the equipment. As a new regulation,
the site now does not allow vehicles on the site, which meant we had
to carry everything to the site (luckily we were not at the bottom
of the field.)
The Cubs managed to put their tents up and we all set up the
campsite.
After a game of football and a brief walk around
the site, the Cubs were fed with burgers and made their way to bed.
Saturday
Today we were awoken at around 4:30 by some noisy Cubs. The Stotfold
Cubs did manage to stay in their tents and stay quiet until 7:00.
Cubs got up and had a wash and were treated to cereal, bacon, eggs
and bread.
The activities for the day were canoeing, archery, climbing and
shooting. All the Cubs took part and had a lot of fun. The Cubs had
a campfire at 8pm, where they all sang lots of songs.
The Cubs were treated to spaghetti bolognaise for
lunch and chicken with new potatoes for dinner. The Cubs finished
the evening cooking crumpets round the fire.
Sunday
The Cubs
were woken at 7:30am and had their breakfast. Today's activities was
working towards some of the Cub badges. The Cubs erected a Icelandic
Ridge tent, made fires and cooked in a cardboard oven.
The photos below, may take a moment to load.
Please be patient.

When the Cubs arrived, they need to
put their tents up.

After the campsite was set, and the
Cubs had been for a walk. We assembled in the mess tent for burgers
and a drink.

Our Baloo got his own Baloo finger
puppet in the breakfast cereal.

Luke makes some adjustments to his
tent.

And then Luke does the flag for the
camp.

The Cubs had a go at canoeing....

Climbing....

Archery...

shooting (this was their own water
pistol range) and air rifle shooting.

All the Cubs built their own fires
and we cooked pizza and cake in a cardboard oven.

Cubs had to erect a patrol (iclandic)
tent as part of their badgework.
