Puzzle & Skills Evening

Due to the rain the campfire cooking was postponed from the 19th Jan to the 2nd Feb, instead we went on to the Puzzels and Skills evening.

Each six attempted to solve 3 mechanical problems; Building a ball pyramid, which most boys did solve.Removing the ring from the metal shape, Only Darren managed to solve this one (see photo) Taking out the slider, which stumped everyone! The skills were a refresher on tracking signs that most of the cubs had learned before Christmas, and points of the compass by plotting out directions on a grid to arrive at a home city or to draw a specific shape. The results were very good, after a few wrong turns everyone arrived "home" safely. The most popular skill was to make a "musical " instrument from a straw, most were successfull straightaway in producing a "reed" trumpet although several cubs had a problem making a noise at first, but by the end of the meeting everyone was successful much to the annoyance of mums & dads taking them home.
