July 14th 2003.
We started in the Kitchen were PC Bolton 1737 was keen to explain to
us that the Kitchen is open 24 a day hours and the kettle is always
hot! After an explanation of what the Police do and some history of
Biggleswade Police Station, PC Bolton showed us some of the
equipment used by the police today, including the famous Bobby’s hat
and truncheon. We were shown some of the police cars and sat in the
police van. Some of the cubs were handcuffed to have their
photograph taken by our friends from the Biggleswade Chronicle (not
for ‘Wanted’ posters), and the old cells in the station were filled
with Comanche Cubs. Later on PC Bolton showed us the police radios,
and an away party was sent to the far end of the yard to try them
out.
We are very grateful to PC Bolton for taking the time to show us
around the station. A good time was had by the Cubs and the leaders.
