Twenty two Beavers descended on Baldock Fire Station one Wednesday in June. The firemen were very friendly. They split the Beavers into two groups and took them round the outside of the fire engine, showing them all the equipment and explaing what it was used for.
One of the firemen was then dressed, stage by stage, in the protective clothing that they wear when fighting a fire. After this the Beavers had a go with the hoses – and so did some of the adults. I think this was the highlight of the evening. As each small group finished they were then allowed to climb into the fire engine and, of course, no evening is complete without the obligatory ‘drink & biscuit’. |
