During February we were busy learning all about emergency aid for their Emergency Aid Stage 1 Badge. We were helped by Mrs Zena Collings and her daughter, who are members of the St John Ambulance Brigade.

During the first week the Beavers learnt how to recognise dangers in the house and outside.  They went into the danger room we had set up to see how many things they could spot and also completed some ‘Spot the dangers’ sheets. 

Then Mrs Collings taught the Beavers what to do at the scene of an accident and showed them how to treat and bandage a small wound. During the second session we were shown how to open an airway with Resusci Annie as a visual aid.  We also learnt how to use our neckerchiefs as slings in the case of an emergency.
