Annual General Meeting Cheyenne Beavers - 2001

REPORT FOR AGM

YES!!! I achieved it – I managed to survive the year!!

Seriously I have now been running the colony for 12 months and for some bizarre reason have enjoyed myself thoroughly!!!

I have been very lucky in persuading two ladies to join me and start their training – Mrs Maureen Simmonds (Blue Whale) and Mrs Jenny Brown (Pink Panther)

Since the last AGM the Beavers have enjoyed a full and varied programme. We enjoyed making Chinese Dragons

as our costume for the Carnival. We had a little bit of a problem with our new GSL who lost the plot totally and turned up as Mr Blobby but luckily this didn’t deter the judges who awarded the boys second place.

The boys enjoyed an inter lodge Euro 2000 resulting in our little England Team doing better than the real th

ended the Summer with a visit from a children’s entertainer which went down very well.

We have played games, “trick and treated” (at the HQ of course – Stotfold are not ready for our monsters knocking on doors!!!), sung songs around a campfire, made Mothers Day gifts, junk models, Christmas crafts and generally had fun – which it is all about.

The boys have also enjoyed trips out. We have visited Sainsbury’s and experienced life as a checkout operator, baker – and some boys even went to minus 20 degrees in the deep freezers. We went conker collecting on a local farm and collected some real whoppers and we went to Macdonalds – the leaders had a ball!!! We managed to join forces with the other colony for a great swimming evening at Saxon pool, Biggleswade, I am not sure who enjoyed the inflatables more the Beavers or the Dads!

Further afield we had a lovely day at the London Transport Museum, Covent Garden, although I was a little distraught to see buses that I used to travel on as museum pieces!

We were also lucky enough to see the England V  Holland under 18’s international football match, Dads came too and all said it was Brilliant!

Just recently we visited the London Aquarium and managed to avoid feeding beavers to the sharks – just!!

Phew – haven’t we had a busy time? My thanks go to the parents whose support is great, and my leaders who work together as a brilliant team, and finally to the boys themselves for their enthusiasm and general all round remarkable attitude to living life to the full.

Yours in Scouting

Lindsay Evans
