Happy New Millennium to everyone
This year we have produced some interesting and
challenging activities. The boys have shown lots of enthusiasm in
everything they have taken part in. This makes the activities as
enjoyable for the leaders as for the boys. Of course, much of this
would not be possible without the help and support of the parents.
Thank you for your support, understanding and tolerance. Keep it
up please!
The boys have had exploring activities which have
included a night ramble in Chicksands woods, conker hunts, sponsored
walks, Police station visit and a memorable trip to Ashwell Bakery.
Caring activities included a Blue Peter Bring and Buy sale which
raised £82 for premature babies. Challenging activities such as
a football tournament, science evening, craft projects, shooting
and pancake tossing introduced the boys to new skills.
It's not all hard work though and the boys thoroughly
enjoyed this years visit to the panto - as did some of the so called
adults!!
I thought I had better include an apology to any
parents whose boys attended the Millennium camp - or the mudennium
camp as it quickly became known. The weather was against us but
the boys seemed to have a great time anyway and in some ways the
mud made it even better. If you thought your boys got muddy, you
should have seen the Cubs and Scouts who spent the whole weekend
there!!
Once again I must thank my team of willing helpers.
A colony can only run successfully with a strong team behind it
and I have been very fortunate over the years to have been part
of a happy and hard working "little team". During the
last 8 years individuals have come and gone and now it is my turn.
I know I am leaving the colony in safe hands with Peter Cheney who
has been involved for about 6 years, Edward Kilby who has been with
us man and boy (well, boy and young man anyway), Sheilah Rogers,
3 years and the new girl Lindsay Evans who has taken over as leader.
Good luck to you all and thanks once again to everyone I have worked
with during the last 8 happy years.
Mind you it does feel strange cooking a meal on
a Tuesday evening!!
Love and kisses
