How to download and install the news ticker

The NewsTicker only runs on Windows 2000 or Windows XP and you'll need Microsoft's .net Framework to run RSSNewsTicker. You can get it via Windows Update or go here for instructions.
 

Download the news ticker program to you computer and install. Once you have installed the program you can run it from the start menu.

Windows 2000/XP: Download release v0.9.6 here (zip:283Kb) (for machines with Microsoft Installer)

Some feeds are already configured into the ticker, these can be changed by right-clicking on the ticker and selecting the “Options” menu. The Options tab allows you to change various display options. Select the Feeds tab. Right click on the list for feeds to add and remove feeds.

Just click on any feed item to open it in Internet Explorer.
 

Step by step

Once the ticker is loaded at the bottom of the screen, right click on it and you should get the menu below. Select options...

From the dialog box you need to select the 'Feeds' tab.

The program defaults with 4 news feeds already installed. You can keep these if you want or deselect the ones that you don't.

To install the Big Bother news feed you need to right click on the news feeds and select 'Add New Feed'.

In the 'NewFeedDialog' box you need to enter the following

Title: Big Bother
URL: http://www.stotfoldscouts.org.uk/bigbother/rss.xml

Click 'OK' and you should see the latest Big Bother news stories scrolling across the bottom of your screen.
